The pied kingfisher(Kannada Name: ಕ್ಪಬಿಳಿ ಮಿಂಚುಳ್ಳಿ - Kapbili Minchulli) (Ceryle rudis) is a water kingfisher and is found widely distributed across Africa and Asia. Its black and white plumage, crest and the habit of hovering over clear lakes and rivers before diving for fish makes it distinctive. Wiki

Types of Kingfishers species found in Mysuru:  

Kingfishers are medium-sized birds with large heads, long pointed bills, short legs and stubby tails. There are 93 species worldwide and 13 species which occur in India and 8 in Karnataka and I have found 4 in Mysuru.
