The Indian grey hornbill (Kannada name - ಬೂದು ಮಂಗಟ್ಟೆ - Boodu Mangatte) (Ocyceros birostris) is a common hornbill found on the Indian subcontinent. It is mostly arboreal and is commonly sighted in pairs. It has grey feathers all over the body with a light grey or dull white belly.

Hornbills are a group of birds whose bill is shaped like a cow's horn, but without a twist, sometimes with a casque on the upper mandible. Frequently, the bill is brightly coloured. There are 57 species worldwide and 10 species which occur in India and 4 in Karnataka and I have found 1 in Mysuru.
