The House Sparrow (Kannada name - ಗುಬ್ಬಚ್ಚಿ - Gubbachi) (Passer domesticus) is a bird of the sparrow family Passeridae, found in most parts of the world. Females and young birds are coloured pale brown and grey, and males have brighter black, white, and brown markings. One of about 25 species in the genus Passer, the House Sparrow is native to most of Europe, the Mediterranean region, and much of Asia. Wiki

Sparrows are small passerine birds. In general, sparrows tend to be small, plump, brown or grey birds with short tails and short powerful beaks. Sparrows are seed eaters, but they also consume small insects. There are 35 species worldwide and 12 species which occur in India and 3 in Karnataka and I have found 1 in Mysuru.
