The White-throated Kingfisher (Kannada Name: ಬಿಳಿಕಂಠದ ಮಿಂಚುಳ್ಳಿ - Bilikantada Minchulli) (Halcyon smyrnensis) also known as the White-breasted Kingfisher or Smyrna Kingfisher, is a tree kingfisher, widely distributed in Eurasia from Bulgaria, Turkey, West Asia east through the Indian Subcontinent to the Philippines.

Types of Kingfishers species found in Mysuru:
Kingfishers are medium-sized birds with large heads, long pointed bills, short legs and stubby tails. There are 93 species worldwide and 13 species which occur in India and 8 in Karnataka and I have found 4 in Mysuru.
